Recognizing Engineering Excellence
1st, 2nd, and 3rd places awarded
Your project couldn’t exist without each individual member of the team! Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together made you a success.
Saving the human race? All in a senior design project! Your project takes into consideration impact on public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
You’re ready for the Ted Talk Circuit! Your presentation skills wowed us.
Most “daring” project. You had a BIG idea and your engineering creativity made it go.
Calling all venture capitalists! This team’s project is ready to go. Most rounded project when considering the synergy between engineering and business.
Our favorite superheroes wear green. Best project with a focus on “green” technologies for sustainability
You’re the favorite! Each team at the showcase gets to vote for their favorite project(s).
Create a professional marketing/sales video to target either an investor (to secure start-up funding from a venture capitalist) or the general public (as part of a television commercial shown during major sports events or holidays). It must be between 30 and 60 seconds long, have a 10 second introduction to the ExCEellence in Design Showcase, be professional and appropriate for sharing on social media and used in future promotions by the conference organizing committee, present the problem and design/build/test process, and demonstrate the product. Every team must submit a video. All videos meeting the above criteria will be judged for marketing appeal (40%), entrepreneurial skills (20%), professional skills (10%), technical skills (10%), and TRL readiness level (20%). A second award, the Venture Capitalist Award, will be an indication of how well you pitched your solution and which project would receive the most purchases or funding based upon the video. ECE students are welcome to involve students from their university’s marketing programs. The deadline to submit a video is May 12, 2022.
